We had a long vacation in Arizona to visit Grammy and Papa.
The twins had a great time spending time with their family.
Every day we did something fun, we went to the choo choo train park three times, the pool, playground, zoo, children's museum, great Mexican food, Japanese Hibachi, boat ride on a lake. The twins expected this routine to continue when they got home, so they get really excited to wear their shoes and put on their coats at the mention of "el parque?"
What is really new are the things the kids are saying. We are starting to get sentences now.
"Where Orli go?"
"Dada silly"
"look, moon"
"thankyou, Bubba"
"Orli crying?"
"What Grammy doing?"
"Where Papa go?"
"No crying Bubba"
Mostly it is from Zev that we hear these sentences, but Orli has been putting her own string of words together. It is amazing.
Zev can count to about 14, and up to 5 in Spanish. Orli can get pretty far as well. Zev can do his A-B-C's rather clearly now. Each of them sing along to "Jacks Big music show". They also sing songs in the back seat of the van. They talk to each other and answer "yeah" to the babble questions they ask eachother. They are plotting something we are sure of it.
Orli missed her cat Moxie, she kissed the cat and hugged her and in return Moxie hopped in her crib. The cat missed her too since she is the only one that pets her all day. Zev was a little scared of the cats when he first saw them, but he's back to petting them and kissing them.
Zev loves motorcycles "cycycle" and guitarrs "geetar", in Scottsdale he heard a band playing a block away and told Daddy to go to the geetar, when we got there he said "geetar mama!" and pointed to the open windows where two people were singing in a restaurant. The lady gave Zev their business card with a picture of a guitar, Zev clung onto it for the rest of the night and fell asleep with it in his little fist.
Orli has offically decided to call Zev "Bubba", if you ask her who he is she says "Bubba", when he gives her something she says "tantu Bubba!", when he was crying in his highchair she quietly said "no cying Bubba". It is cute, we think she is using one of her first words for "baby" she said "bubba", but other babies now are "baby" and Zev is "Bubba". We'll post pictures soon.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our 21lb babies!!

The babies are 1 year. Today they got their one year check up and they are both 21lbs. Zev is just 1 ounce heavier than Orli and he is 1/2 inch taller. So he is not the "bigger" one by that much. They are still not walking yet, but Orli can pull you to where she wants to go as she walks. Before their birthday we got some photos taken at the mall, because they are our kids, they came out very cute despite exposure, focus, contrast and what ever else a real photograher may critique, you know who you are (hint hint, take some art photos of our kids). It was exausting, they kept crawling away, crying, trying to play with toys and never really looking and smiling at the camera. The poor chick did manage to snap a few good ones. Maybe we'll scan them in.
The party was on Saturday, Zev and Orli had their own cakes and a cupcake each to mush up.
Both tried to grab the flames of the candles and then Zev mushed his cake in his eye. It swelled up and had a bubble in it, that got better after a few hours. Then before bedtime he tripped and fell and smacked his cheek on a box.
They got tons of gifts, every one was so generous. They got puzzles, a cat and dog plush toy, a frog and penguin stuffed animals, finger puppets, something that makes noise from Auntie Faline, a pinic bench from fi_and_c, money, clothes, PJs, a jewish book, onsies that say "if you think I'm cute you should see my twin", drum and instruments (now we can throw away our ghetto water bottle filled with beans instrument), lots of adorable outfits you'll see them modeling this summer here on this blog.
We learned two of our dear friends are expecting, yeah more babies!! We can't wait.
Meanwhile other dear friends gave birth last Wednesday to a baby boy, name to be announced today at the brit milah. So they missed out on the party to say the least. Orli and Zev can't wait to meet him.
Oh and how could we forget. A surprise vist from their big cousin Autumn with her daddy and mommy all the way from Arizona, and Aunti Sherry and uncle Larry. Auntie Faline brought her adorable little man Lincoln with his huge blue eyes that made everyone say "boy he's going to be a heart breaker when he grows up". Benjamin was there, so was Nico and Alex, Nico is also 1 and can walk, Henry with his mommy and daddy were there too.

Back to Gray, Visit with Cousin Autumn, and Baby Jive

We are back in Mass. and were greeted with gray drizzle and chilly air. The babies are tired from their travels and so are mommy and daddy. The pictures from the trip are downloaded for safekeeping. HOLDING TWINS CHALLENGE UPDATED
We have some new developmental milestones to report.
Zev can do peek-a-boo, at about 1am waiting in the Logan airport for Daddy to drive up in the van, Zev grabbed his blanket and threw it over his face and took it away and laughed at mommy, he did this several times. Orli can do it too, in Arizona at an Italian restaurant she pulled a curtain from behind her and pulled it over her face and did peek-a-boo with the whole table.
The babies also shake their heads, Orli does this when you make a sing-song "ooooooooh" sound. And Zev shakes his head as if to say "no". He pretends to feed you and then takes it away and shakes his head. It is so cute. Although on the plane ride home, he decided to "share" his gooey teething biscuit by jamming it in mommy's mouth, he has bad aim so it went into mommy's cheek, chin, nose.. spit covered cookie all over.
Orli is starting to have more content to her babble. She will string a bunch of the sounds she can do such as "bebo, da, da ma, do, da bebe, zoo" we think we need a Baby Jive translator.
Here are some remaining pics of our visit.

The Vacation ends, And The twins are 11 months old
Orli and Zev turned 11 months old yesterday!!

We had a wonderful trip to see Grammy, Pa pa and Uncle Todd in Arizona. The weather was just beautiful and the views of the mountains, Saguaros, Arroyo and humming birds were amazing. The twins played in the pool, we went to see the natural land bridge at Tonto forest. They saw their big cousin Autumn on Friday and their cousin Dustin and Elena. Orli loved Autumn, she found a big sister, Autumn let Orli and Zev ride her tricycle. We saw these pig like animals called javalinias a herd of them walked by then Daddy nearly hit one in the road on the way home. The babies went to the Phoenix Zoo and saw tons of animals and a few big kitties and a girrafe. Here are some photos.
