Ok, it happened again so soon after the first.
We decided to go to VT last minute for Memorial Day weekend. We had originally thought to go to Stowe VT and go bicycling with the twins. We called L and H to let them know we'd be passing through and they offered for us to stay at their house. When we got there we discovered that Stowe was another 2 hrs from their house. Our children free era memories told us that it really wasn't that far.
Anyhoo, we cycled near Manchester on a back country road with the twins in our new Chariot bike caddy that turns into a jogging stroller. The kids loved it. We had dinner with L, H and their son Cos and in the evening we discussed how we needed to take a kiddie picture with Cos in the middle of the twins on a chair that we took the first picture several months back. At any rate Cos is still rocking VT with a big crop of hair, adorable..
Then all hell broke loose. Zev had another asthma attack in the middle of the night Sunday into Monday. We had to leave VT abruptly, and head home. It was a good thing H lent us his belkin power inverter for our car so we could plug it into the nebulizer we just happened to bring.
We got to Childrens' again, and he was given meds and admitted again. It sucked. Around 5ish, mommy was feeding Zev over the crib rail and noticed that one of his pupils was super dilated and the other was normal. We alerted the nurses, who alerted the Docs, who called the neurologists, who recommended he have a CT scan. Their thought was better safe than sorry, and wanted to rule out a brain injury. This meant Zev had to get an IV installed, poor thing cried the whole time, the first try didn't work at all, the second worked but was pretty bloody, good thing Daddy didn't see it. So they gave him some Ativan to calm him down and they put him in the CT scanner. The machine was so huge compared to his little little body as he laid on the platform as it passed him through the eye of the scanner. Zev was so good and calm and he was just looking at the whirling machinery, his little eyeballs rolling back and forth as he looked around silently. All was fine, he checked out, they then turned to the meds as a culprit. He did well overnight, and the next morning they took him in to see the eye dr. Their diagnosis was the meds given to him in the ER must have sputtered out of the nebulizer and hit him in the eye causing the reaction. Argh!!
So we are dealing with our little asthma patient at home, he's doing fine, playing, sleeping and eating just fine. We just have this issue to deal with and hope we can control it and hope it resolves itself.
Oh and he has yet another ear infection. Yuck.
Let's not forget Orli, Orli has been a good girl through all this upheaval, except she pukes in the car after she eats. One huge milestone to report is that Orli in the last week is 100% walking. She is even good at getting over thresholds between rooms, she does laps around the living room and dining room. She also loves to grab a toy from Zev and run/walk away with it and he can't catch her by crawling. She still walks with her arms out for balance, still says "flower", "baby", in her own baby talk way. Both kids are pointing at everything in their environment. And just yesterday Zev said "DA-DA!", mommy looks up and daddy was in the window on the porch. Wow..
